Precision AI OS for Law firms
Every tool has AI now. Your confidentiality duty covers all of them.
Clio, Westlaw and your document system each bring their own AI, and each sees only its own records. Precision AI OS connects intake, practice management, documents and email one matter at a time, keeps each matter's information behind its walls, and records which tools saw it and what the client agreed to. Attorneys approve the drafts and decisions.
What matters to your team.
In 2025 only 8% of solo practitioners and 4% of small firms had adopted AI widely (Clio Legal Trends for Solo and Small Law Firms, 2025). Clio estimates AI could put up to $27,000 a year per lawyer at risk under hourly billing. ABA Formal Opinion 512 requires informed client consent before information relating to a representation goes into a self-learning AI tool, and says boilerplate engagement-letter language is not enough.
When the software you have is enough.
Start with what you already pay for. If your firm runs on Clio Manage, Manage AI drafts client updates, extracts deadlines and prepares bills from your Clio records, following your existing user permissions; Clio says it is native in most Clio Manage plans. For legal research and brief drafting, use a tool grounded in legal content, such as CoCounsel Legal or Clio Work; Precision does not provide legal research. Precision fits the work between systems, and a consent and access record that spans them.

Where your team can gain time.
Illustrative workflows, scoped to your systems and review process during discovery.
Intake to matter opening
Gather details from web forms, email and call notes, flag what's missing, and prepare a draft matter in your practice-management system for staff approval.
Conflict-check preparation
Assemble names, entities and variants from intake, your practice-management system and prior matters for your firm's review. Staff make the clearance decision.
Client consent and AI-use register
Record, per client and matter, which tools may see matter information and whether informed consent was obtained, and hold AI processing of that matter's information until consent is recorded.
Matter status updates
Draft client updates from verified deadlines, recent filings in your document store and the latest email thread. Your team confirms deadlines and attorneys approve before anything is sent.
Firm knowledge behind ethical walls
Search prior work product only within matters the user is allowed to see, with source links for attorney review.
A practical place to start.
Start with intake completeness for one practice area, using sample matters before any confidential information is connected. In parallel, agree the consent language your firm will use for AI and which tools each matter may touch.
Compare intake completeness, staff follow-up time and time to assign a matter owner, and track how many active matters have a recorded AI consent. We don't promise a time saving before measuring yours.
Start with the systems you have.
Discovery starts with your exact systems: practice management, document management, email and any intake tools. Clio Manage has a documented API with webhooks; other systems vary. We check reading and writing separately, and nothing is written into a matter record without staff review.
The services behind it.
A coordinated approach, shaped around the work your team needs to improve.
- AI strategyAI strategy consulting from Precision AI OS starts with a readiness assessment of where AI pays off in your firm. We map your work, systems and client data, then show where agents cut the most cost and time, and what your pipeline needs to make it happen.
- Firm OSThe firm OS is your firm's private AI knowledge base: your procedures, standards, clients and the decisions your team has made. Your data pipeline builds it, and it's what lets agents work like your best people.
- AI governanceAI governance from Precision AI OS protects client data everywhere it flows. Governance is built into your pipeline and agents from day one, enforced by the system, not a policy binder.
Keep the right people in control.
Each matter's information stays behind its walls across every connected tool. Access is logged by matter and by tool, and client consent is recorded before AI processes that matter's information. Retention follows your firm's policy. Attorneys keep responsibility for conflict clearance, legal advice, deadline verification, final documents and client communications.
What the first 90 days could look like.
An illustrative sequence, adjusted after discovery. Timing depends on data access, scope and your team's availability.
Discover and define
Map one workflow, check the systems and permissions, and agree what a useful result looks like.
Build and test
Connect approved inputs and test drafts against representative examples with your reviewers.
Run and improve
Introduce the agreed workflow, monitor exceptions and compare results with the starting baseline before widening scope.
Questions firms ask
Is it ethical to put client information into an AI tool?
Yes, with conditions. ABA Formal Opinion 512 requires informed client consent before information relating to a representation goes into a self-learning AI tool whose output could disclose it. It also expects lawyers to understand the tool's terms, retention and access, and to verify output.
Can we cover AI use in our engagement letter?
Not with boilerplate. Opinion 512 says merely adding general, boiler-plate provisions to engagement letters to authorize AI use is not sufficient. State guidance, such as Florida Opinion 24-1 and Texas Opinion 705, also ties consent to what the specific tool does with confidential information.
How should we bill when AI saves time?
Under Opinion 512, hourly billing must reflect actual time spent. You may bill for time spent inputting information and reviewing AI output, but generally not for learning the tool. A flat fee that stays the same after AI cuts the work may become unreasonable.
Does Clio's AI use our client data to train models?
Clio says data is never used to train AI models, is processed in your region, follows your existing user permissions, and that each AI action appears in a log the firm can see.
Is the AI in Clio or CoCounsel enough?
Often, for work inside those products, so use them first. Clio Manage AI works on your Clio records; CoCounsel Legal works with Westlaw and Practical Law. A custom system earns its cost when work crosses systems, or when you need one consent and access record across them.
Can AI see only the matters a user is allowed to see?
Inside Clio, its AI follows existing user permissions. Across several tools, those walls have to be designed so every connected system enforces the same matter-level access. Check your permission settings first, because AI makes whatever access already exists easier to use.
How much time will this save?
We don't quote a number before measuring. Discovery sets your baseline for intake completeness and follow-up time, and the pilot is judged against it, including the time attorneys spend reviewing drafts.
